JS body for maintaining contact with Malaysia over sending workers

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2018 (BSS) – Parliamentary standing committee on Ministry
of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment today proposed maintaining
close contact with concerned Malaysian ministries over sending Bangladeshi
workers there.

The proposal was made at the committee’s 25th meeting held at Jatiya
Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman Nurul Mojid Mahmud Humayun in the
chair.

Committee members Md Shahab Uddin, Md Esrafil Alam, Mahmud Us-Samad
Chowdhury and Mahfuzur Rahman attended the meeting, among others.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam BSc attended the
meeting on special invitation.

The meeting was told that some systematic changes will be brought through
soon to be held meeting of joint working group between the governments of
Bangladesh and Malaysia to ensure taking part by more recruiting agencies in
the process of sending workers, bringing down the immigration cost.

Nurul Islam BSc will head Bangladesh delegation at the meeting to be held
on September 25, and the JS body proposed to finalize the process to send
Bangladeshis to Malaysian labour market at that meeting.

The committee also emphasized on research on possibility of sending workers
to labour markets of different countries, formulating plans to send workers
based on the report of the research.

Top officials of concerned ministry, department and agencies were also
present at the meeting, among others.
