Spl security planned for 30,000 mandaps ahead of Durga Puja

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2018 (BSS) – The government is set to take special security
in over 30,000 puja mandaps across the country with deploying 1.70 lakh ansar
personnel alongside with other law enforcement agencies for peaceful
celebration of the Durga Puja.

“Durga Puja, the largest festival of the traditional Hindu community, will
be held at over 30,000 mandaps across the country. Special security measures
will be taken in each of the mandaps for smooth and peaceful celebration of
the festival,” said Secretary of Public Security division of the Home
Ministry Mostofa Kamal Udddin.

The decision was taken in a meeting on overall law and order ahead of the
Durga Puja at the Home Ministry’s conference room at Secretariat here.

“Social networking sites would also be put under surveillance as no group
could spread rumour to destroy social harmony ahead of the Durga Puja,” he
also said. He requested the Hidu community not to play drums (dhak and dhol)
from 12pm to 1.30pm during Jummah prayer as immersion of the idol of goddess
Durga will be fell on Friday.

Plying of motorcycles will be restricted during the Durga Puja, he said,
adding that the central monitoring committee will maintain continuous contact
with the Puja committee for peaceful celebration of the festival.
