Khaleda cannot be freed thru movement: Hanif

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said no convicted corrupt person could be freed by waging a movement.

“BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia may be freed through the legal procedures. Otherwise, she can seek mercy to the honourable President. But the people of the country will not wage any movement to free her from jail,” he said, speaking at the inaugural session of a five-day training of Imams at Islamic Foundation in city’s Agargaon.

The Imam Training Academy organized the event with Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal in the chair, said a press release here.

Hanif said a total of 560 model mosques and 1010 darul akram madrasas have been set up across the during the tenure of the present government under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He said Islam doesn’t support terrorism and militancy. The students of Qawmi and Alia madrasas are not involved in militancy or other terrorist activities, he added.

“Jamaat wants to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan. They are the enemy of Bangladesh and Islam,” he added.

Islamic Foundation Director Lutfur Rahman Sarker, Imam Training Academy Directors Jalal Ahmed and AKM Fazlur Rahman, among others, were present in the inaugural session.
