JS body for 1 % quota reservation for children with disabilities
DHAKA, Sept 19, 2018 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the
Ministry of Social Welfare has recommended ensuring 1 % quota reservation for
children with special abilities.
The committee made this recommendation in its 36th meeting held at the
Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman M Mozammel Hossain in the
chair.
Committee members Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Manoranjan
Shil Gopal, Ayesha Ferdous, Md Habibe Millat, SK Hafizur Rahman, Md Abdul
Matin, Lutfa Taher and Syeda Saira Mohsin , among others, attended the
meeting, said a press release.
In the meeting, the parliamentary watchdog discussed about taking
necessary steps for improving safe homes located in Gazipur for women,
children and youths and uplifting living standard of small ethnic groups.
They also recommended necessary steps from the ministry to provide
facilities to the transgender (Hijra) community including suitable education,
training for their children and young hijra, special allowance for old hijras
and proper rights in their paternal property.
