34,247 women, children get service from one-stop crisis centre: Chumki

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 18, 2018 (BSS) – The government has established nine one-stop crisis centres across the country aimed at providing necessary services to oppressed women and children from one place.

“The one-stop crisis centres provided necessary services to 34,247 women and children so far till August 2018,” State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member AKM Rahmatullah of Dhaka-11 in the Jatiya Sangsad today.

She said the government has established one-stop crisis centre to Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Faridpur and Cox’s Bazar medical college hospitals.

“Physically, sexually and burn injured oppressed women and children were admitted to one-stop crisis centres (OCCs) through outdoor or emergency department,” Chumki said.

The state minister informed the House that the OCCs provide health related, foreignsic DNA test, police assistance, legal assistance and mono social counseling services to oppressed women and children.
