JS passes Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Bill, 2018

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 17, 2018 (BSS) – A bill titled ‘Hindu Religious
Welfare Trust Bill, 2018’ passed in the Jatiya Sangsad in an amended form
with a spirit of communal harmony and building a peaceful society including
welfare of the Hindu religious community.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman moved the bill which was
passed unanimously with voice votes with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia
in the chair.

Piloting the bill, the Religious Affairs Minister said the new proposed act will
replace the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Ordinance, 1983 which was already
become ineffective as the prosecution has declared the fifteenth and seventh
amendment of the constitution illegal.

Under the act, the main office of the trust will be at the capital and the trusty
board can set up its office at any places across the country.

Earlier, the proposed act was sent to the parliamentary standing committee for
providing report.
