Record number of applicants applies for JU admission test

SAVAR, Sep 17, 2018 (BSS) – A record number of applicants applied for
this year’s admission test for the 1st year honors courses under the academic
session 2018-19 at Jahangirnagar University (JU).

The online application process which ended on Sunday showed that the
number of applicants has increased this year compared to the previous year.

Breaking all previous records, a total of 3,22,946 students have applied
against 1890 seats under six faculties and three institutes this year,
sources of Admission Management Committee said.

This year, the Biological Sciences faculty (D Unit) received a total of
72,953 applications which is the highest among all the faculties.

Besides, 64,710 applications were submitted in Physical Sciences Faculty
(A unit), 36447 in Social Sciences faculty (B Unit), 69120 in Arts and
Humanities faculty (C Unit), 20123 in Business Studies faculty (E Unit),
32680 in Law faculty (F Unit), 10058 in Institution of Business
Administration (G unit), 18690 in Institution of Information Technology (H
Unit) and 8165 in Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative literature and Culture
(I Unit) for the academic session 2018-19.

“Around 3 lakh admission seekers have already completed the online
application process successfully by paying application fees,” member of
Admission Managing Committee Associate Professor Dr Wahiduzzam of Institution
of Information Technology told BSS.

Meanwhile, JU Deputy Registrar (Education -1) Abu Hasan said, “The
number of seats may increase by 20-30 which will be finalized on September 18
at a formal meeting”.
