Swami Vivekananda advocates for peace and harmony : Speakers

DHAKA, Sept 14, 2018 (BSS)= Speakers at a function here today said that Swami Vivekananda was an inspiration for youths across the world as he advocated for harmony and peace throughout his life.

His historical speech, which was presented at Chicago, inspires millions of youths to work for peace and harmony around the world, they said.

The speakers came up with the observations while speaking at a seminar at Dhaka University (DU).

‘Bangladesh Vivalananda Shiksha O Sangskriti Parishad’ organised the seminar titled “The ideal of Harmony and Peace in the context of present world” celebrating 125th Anniversary of Swami Vevekananda’s Chicago Address at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium on the campus.

Dr. Gowher Rizvi, International Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister, addressed the programme as the chief guest.

“We should remember that the message and the goal of every religion are same. It is important to promote and encourage diversity and make the mindset to understand others,” he said.

Gowher Rizvi emphasized on following Swami Vivekananda’s messages of tolerance and all religions’ striving for the same truth.

DU Pro-VC (Academic ) Prof.Dr. Nasreen Ahmed inaugurated the programme.

Vivalananda Shiksha O Sangskriti Parished Bangladesh’s President Prof. Dr. Chandranath Podder presided over the programme while Patron-in-chief of Vivalananda Shiksha O Sangskriti Parishad Srimat Swami Dhruveshanandaji Maharaj and Secretary of Ramakrisna Mission of Singapore Srimat Swami Shamachittanandaji Maharaj addressed as guests of honor.

DU World Religion and Culture department Chairman Dr. Father Tapan Camilus De. Rijario and Barrister Biplob Barua, among others, spoke.
