Setting up of 70MW power plant possible from DSCC, DNCC wastage: Nasrul

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said it is possible to install power plants
having 60MW-70MW generation capacity from wastage of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

“Process is underway for installing power plant having 35 MW electricity from wastage of DSCC and 35 MW generation capacity power plant from wastage from DNCC
by appointing private entrepreneur as Independent Power Producer (IPP),” he said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Kamal Ahmed
Majumder of Dhaka-15 in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The state minister said to this end, an initiative is under process for signing a Memorandum of Understating (MoU) on wastage supply and providing land between Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and city corporations.

Besides, the government floated tender to install a wastage base power plant having 5-MW generation capacity in Narayanganj on July 25, 2017, Nasrul Hamid
informed the House.
