Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Bill, 2018 passes in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 12, 2018 (BSS) – The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the Bangladesh
Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Bill 2018.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury moved the bill in the House, which was passed
unanimously by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

The proposed act will help ensure the supply of necessary agricultural inputs including fertilizer, irrigation, seed, machineries and ingredients related to the horticulture development through annulling the Agricultural Development Corporation Ordinance, 1961.
With the introduction of the Bill, the minister said the proposed act will take necessary steps for producing and stock of quality seeds and certified seeds of Jute, pulse, cereal crops, potatoes, oilseed, vegetables and other crops seeds through the contract growers.
Earlier, the Jatiya Sangsad has sent the bill to the parliamentary standing committee on June 19 in 2018 for providing report.
