SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 11, 2018 (BSS) – The Housing and Building Research Institute Bill, 2018 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to ensure environment friendly cost-effective housing for the people.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain today placed the bill in the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Placing the bill, the public works minister said the propose act will be enacted through annulling the Housing and Building Research Institute Ordinance , 1977. “The proposed act will help ensure cost-effective, disaster tolerant and environment friendly housing for everyone,” he said.
Earlier, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman approved ‘the Housing and Building Research Center Project” on January 13, 1975 in order to ensure environment friendly, disaster tolerant and cost-effective housing for all.
Later, the government issued ‘Housing and Building Research Institute Ordinance, 1977’ on October 16, 1977, he added.
The minister urged the House to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for providing report within seven days.
