Foreign cigarettes worth Tk 2.5 crore seized at Dhaka airport
DHAKA, Sept 12, 2018 (BSS) – Ten lakh sticks of contraband foreign
cigarette estimated to be worth about Taka 2.5 crore were seized from Shahjalal
International Airport in the capital on Monday midnight.
“We seized 5000 cartons containing 10 lakh shalaka (sticks) of
contraband foreign cigarette ‘mond’ and 303 brands from Cargo Customs area of
the airport on Monday midnight,” director general (DG) of customs
intelligence Dr Md Shahidul Islam told BSS today.
The estimated value of the seized cigarette along with its 450 percent
tax is Taka 2.5 crore, he also said.
Legal action was taken to this end.
