Confident Nepal aims to create history

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2018 (BSS)- Nepal national football team head coach Bal
Gopal Maharjan today said they are confident enough before the semi-final
clash against the Maldives and want to go to final for the first time by
creating history in the tournament.

He was speaking at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday at the
conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

Nepal will take on the Maldives in the first semi-final scheduled to be
held tomorrow (Wednesday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The Himalaya Kingdom has never played SAFF Cup finals. But confident
Maharjan said they want to create a new history reaching the final round.

Maharjan said, “Team is now in good shape … and boys are motivated ….we
are confident but not over confident”.

He said: “I am confident that boys will be able to give more in semifinal
match against the Maldives….my boys look motivated ……even my substitute
players are in good shape …….I have so many options with the players
that’s why I am confident.”

He said he has faith on his boys. He also thanked Nepalese supporters here
in Dhaka and hoped that the local crowds would also support them in
tomorrow’s semi-final. Nepal was beaten by Maldives in Nehru Cup 2011 but
Gorkhalis defeated them in 2016 Bangabandhu Gold Cup and in 12th SA Games.

On the other hand, Maldives head coach Petar Segrt said his side is ready
to deliver their best football against Nepal in tomorrow’s semi-final.

“We will play good football against Nepal…. I don’t care about the past
results … we want to focus for the future…. We cannot change the past but
we can change the future … we will play to win the semi-final,” said Petar.

He however admitted that, “Nepal is a strong team we respect them…..we’ll
try to make the things better … we’ll try our best tomorrow.”
