SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 10, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Bill, 2018 was placed today in the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to make the livestock research institute more effective and also to make the act relating to this time befitting.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda placed the bill in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Placing the bill, the livestock minister said “there is no alternative to increase the production of animal protein like egg, milk and meat for increasing population so we need to make the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute(BLRI) more active and enable.”
Earlier , the government had enacted the Livestock Research Institute Ordinance in 1984 for establishing the livestock research institute considering the importance of livestock research.
Subsequently, the government amended the act in 1984 and 1996.
As per the decision of the cabinet, the Livestock Research Institute 1984 needs to be time-befitting through annulling and more amending the ordinance.
The Livestock Minister urged the House to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for providing report within seven days.
