Govt prioritizes poverty alleviation: Mosharraf


DHAKA, Sept 10, 2018 (BSS) – LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain today said the government has deftly prioritized poverty alleviation mapping out effective measures to rid the nation of this menace.

“The government has been continuing to implement different projects, including ‘Ektee Bari Ektee Khamar’ and ‘Ashrayan’, to alleviate poverty from the country,” he said.

The minister said this while presiding over the 2nd meeting of board of governance of ‘Bangabandhu Academy for Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development’ (BAPARD) at the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division conference room at the secretariat here.

Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary SM Ghulam Farooque, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Chief Engineer Md Abul Kalam Azad and BAPARD Director General Sheikh Md Moniruzzaman were present in the meeting.

Mosharraf urged the country’s rural development academies to play important roles in developing the existing agriculture system and providing training to farmers to help eradicate poverty.

He also urged the BAPARD, which was established after the name of the Father of the Nation, to make an important contribution to the development of southern region.
