RAJSHAHI, Sept 9, 2018 (BSS) – A two-day International Conference on
Geosciences and Environment began at senate building of Rajshahi University
(RU) here today.
Department of Geology and Mining of RU organized the conference for the
first time.
RU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha addressed the opening
ceremony as the chief guest with chairman of the department Prof Khandaker
Enamul Haque in the chair. Prof Selim Reja welcomed the participants.
In his remarks, Prof Shaha said the conference will provide an important
opportunity to meet renowned geoscientists, environment related scientists
and miner which will help exchange the scientific ideas among them.
RU officials said the conference includes a daylong field trip to the
important Pleistocene Barind Clay localities of Chapainawabgonj district.
Large number of teachers, researchers and professionals from home and
abroad are joining the conference.
