Rich tributes paid to journalist Mamun

DHAKA, Sept 08, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a memorial meeting here today paid rich tributes to late journalist Mamunur Rashid, saying he was a good soul and possessed an excellent personality.

Well-wishers and friends of Mamun arranged the meeting at Teachers Students Centre (TSC) auditorium here with Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khakon in the chair.

Mamun was a student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department in Dhaka University.

Parliament Member Anupam Sjahjahan Joy, Awami League Central Committee Member SM Kamal Hossain, General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, former BCL president HM Badiuzzaman Shohag, former BCL general secretary SM Zakir Hossain, former BCL joint secretary Iqbal Mahmood Bablu, former BCL join secretary and former Rokeya Hall president Sharmin Sultana Lily, former president of BCL Dhaka University Unit Abid Al-Hasan and former BCL leaders Nasim Al-Momin Rupok and Pulock Adhikari, among others, addressed the meeting.

The speakers said Mamun, a senior reporter of Ekushey television (ETV), used to cover the Prime Minister’s news showing utmost professionalism.

Mamun was an honest and dedicated journalist and nurtured spirit of the War of Liberation, they said, adding he (Mamun) will ever be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the society.

Mamun died of a massive heart attack on September 3 at a hospital in the capital at the age of 33. He was buried at his village home in Narail.
