Quader seeks vote for ‘Boat’ to continue ongoing dev activities

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today urged the countrymen to vote for ‘Boat’, the election symbol of Awami League, again to continue the ongoing development activities in the country.

“The party will nominate candidates considering the popularity of the aspirants. …I urge all to cast votes for ‘Boat’ again,” he said, addressing a street meeting in Tangail on the way to Nilphamari on a day-long tour.

A delegation of Awami League, led by Obaidul Quader, left Kamalapur Railway Station for Nilphamari by a train this morning, aiming to carry out campaigns in northern districts ahead of the forthcoming national polls.

The delegation members included AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, organising secretaries Ahmad Hossain, Abu Sayed Al Mahmud Swapan, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, cultural secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil and Biplob Barua.

BSS Tangail correspondent reports: The train reached Gharinda Rail Station at 10.50 am.

A street rally was held at the station with Tangail district AL President and Zilla Parishad Chairman Fazlur Rahman Khan in the chair.

In the rally, Quader urged all not to become confused by BNP’s propaganda. “They are confusing the country’s people by spreading propaganda and rumours,” he added.

“You should remain alert against the propaganda of BNP. They are now hatching conspiracy to create anarchy like in 2014,” he warned.

He said the countrymen don’t want BNP’s misrule again.

Warning the party leaders, he said, “The party leaders who would betray the party or rebel against the party nomination will be expelled from the party instantly.”

Our Pabna correspondent said the train reached Muladuli Station at 1 pm. Then a street rally was held there with Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif in the chair.

Addressing the rally, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said BNP is now planning to create anarchy and resort to arson attacks after failing to wage movement.

“They (BNP) want to create an unstable situation across the country as they have failed to achieve the mandate of common people. The people of Bangladesh will protect their conspiracies.” he said.

Urging the party men to work in unison, the ruling party general secretary said, “You would have to work to project all development works of the government to the people.”

He said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured the women empowerment. Awami League believes in the politics of development, he added.
