DHAKA, Sept 8, 2018 (BSS) – The fifth part of a graphic novel series on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has hit the market, illustrating how a young courageous Mujib attempted to assuage the public suffering caused by the ripple effects of the World War-II.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched the book at an event at Ganabhaban on Friday afternoon, saying this initiative to present the topsy-turvy life of Bangabandhu, his struggle and work for the nation will surely keep Banganabdhu alive for generations.
“Attempts were made in abundance to feed a generation with false and inflammatory information on the Father of the Nation. But truth never dies, and finally all those devils’ plot fell apart,” she said.
Following the publication ceremony of the first edition of “Secret Documents of Intelligence Branch on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” at Ganabhaban, the non-profit Centre for Research and Information (CRI), which published the book, organised the launching of the graphic novel ‘Mujib-5’
Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam chaired the function, Bangabandhu’s grandson Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Bangla Academy Director General Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan were present at the event, among others.
The fifth episode of Mujib graphic novel visualizes how Mujib, in 1945, was denied his deserved post in Chhatra League, the student front that got no other election up until 1947. Then the second world war and the black market that some vested quarters created by cashing in on the war put the country upside down.
To make it worse, some MLAs of the country and the conflict of interests among Khan Bahadurs paved the path for the British governor to take over.
This was the turmoil that sparked the zeal of young Mujib to rise in response to the situation and make a difference, according to a press release.

Sheikh Mujib was born on March 17, 1920, at Tungiparha in Gopalganj, Bangladesh that emerged as an independent country in 1971 following a long struggle led by him.
The entire graphic novel series is based on the “The Unfinished Memoirs of Bangabandhu”, written during his incarceration. This is being presented in 12 parts of the graphic novel series, according to CRI, mainly aimed at raising keenness among children and teenagers to learn about Bangabandhu and the nation’s history.
CRI says they plan to release seven more parts of the series in turn.
Released earlier, the fourth edition presented young Mujib’s adventure in Delhi, among others. After visiting some historic sites, he and his two other associates found they almost ran out of money to buy the return tickets.
The previously released ‘Mujib-3’ highlights the post-World War II period of the life of Bangabandhu, during which he arranged for food for the starving people in his locality.
Mujib-2 of the series covers the political rise of Bangabandhu and his growing ties with his political mentor Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy along with an important football match between the young Mujib and his father.
Mujib-1 portrayed the childhood of Bangabandhu and how he got involved in politics.
