Cigarettes, gold bars of Tk 80 lakh seized at Shahjalal airport
DHAKA, Sept 8, 2018 (BSS) – Customs intelligence in separate drives
conducted last night and this morning seized illegal cigarettes and gold bars
worth around Taka 80 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
“We seized eight gold bars weighing 870 grams from four passengers from
Abu Dhabi as they tried to cross the Green Channel area at around 9pm
yesterday. We found the gold bars after searching their bodies. The estimated
cost of the gold bars is Taka 44 lakh,” Customs Intelligence Director General
(DG) Dr Sahidul Islam told BSS.
Customs intelligence in another drive seized 170 cartons cigarettes of
Dunhill, Mond, 303 and BLACK brands from two luggages came on an UAE flight
last night.
Cigarettes of around Taka 25.5 lakh were also seized this morning from
four luggages came on flight Q-283 from Kuwait this morning. All the luggages
were found unattended.
Legal actions have been taken in these regards.
