Man jailed for life-term for killing wife in Ctg
CHATTOGONG, Sept 6, 2018 (BSS) – A Chattogram court in a verdict here
today awarded life-term imprisonment to a man on charges of killing his wife
in Fatikchari upazila of the district in 2000.
The Judge of Chattogram 3rd additional district and session court Munshi
Abdul Majid pronounced the verdict convicting Anwar Ullah.
The court also fined Tk 50,000 to the convicted person in default he will
have to suffer two years more in jail.
The prosecution story in short is that Anwar stabbed his wife Laily
Begum to death over family feud at Bhujpur sadar village of Fatichari upazila
of the district on April 22, 2000.
Later, victim’s father Kamal Ullah filed a case against Anwar Ullah on the
same day on charges of the killing his daughter. Police submitted charge
sheet on January 27, 2001 while the judge framed charges against him accused
on June 8 in 2001.
