DHAKA, Sept 6, 2018 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque today said a court has been set up in the jail area to ensure security of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

“It’s not a camera trial. Civilian and media persons are not allowed in the camera trial. Only the judge and the accused and in special cases lawyers are allowed in the trial. You see, Zia Charitable graft case accused Begum Zia talked with the journalists yesterday. Therefore, it’s not a camera trial,” he said at a roundtable meeting here.

Hekes/Eper Bangladesh, Creative Media Limited and the daily Samokal organized the roundtable on the rights of ethnic communities at the Samokal office in the city, said an official release.

Lawmaker Fazley Hossain Badsha, Senior Secretary of Local Government Ministry Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan, former advisor to Caretaker Government Advocate Sultana Kamal and leaders of ethnic communities spoke in the meeting while Samokal acting editor Mostafiz Shafi conducted it.

Anisul said, “The court has been set up in prison for ensuring the security of Begum Zia…The reasons of issuing a gazette notification on this issue have been explained in that gazette.”

About the election-time government, the law minister said it is the jurisdiction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She will declare the election-period government. The size of the election-time government will be small, he added.

“The government will run only the routine activities. The Election Commission is responsible to hold the election,” Anisul added.

About the amendment to Representation of the Public Order, 1972, he said, “The file reached my ministry. We are looking into the file.”
