Nazrul was poet of egalitarianism, humanism: Inu

DHAKA, Nov 21, 2017(BSS)-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said here today that National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was a poet of egalitarianism, humanism and patriotism.

The minister was speaking at an international conference organized by Uttara University and University of Assam.

He also said that Nazrul along with Biswakabi Rabindranath Tagore will remain imbibed in Bengali culture.

Inu said that Nazrul was extremely relevant today. His poems were against atheism and bigotry which we were facing now.

“We will overcome the challenges under the leadership of Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, “he said.

Inu also said that we should follow the path laid by Tagore, Nazrul and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He said that at a time when bigots were trying to hit us from the back Nazrul was extremely relevant.

The minister also said that Nazrul had tried to integrate Islam into Bengali culture with great success. “That’s why he needed to be studied more,” he said.

Nazrul was a poet, novelist, journalist and soldier, Inu said.

Academicians, Nazrul experts, poets and relatives of the Great Poet spoke on the occasion.
