Special programs taken to hail Sheikh Hasina on Sept 16 in Netrakona
NETRAKONA, Sept 05, 2018 (BSS)-A preparatory meeting held here today chalked out a day-long special program to congratulate and express gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government on September 16 for giving approval to establish a public university and a medical college in Netrakona.
Nertakona district administration and different socio-cultural and political organizations and educational institutions jointly held the meeting at the conference room of Netrakona DC office here.
The preparatory works for setting up the public university named “Sheikh Hasina Public University” and the medical college named “Netrakona Medical College” have already been started in the district town under the supervision of the university and medical college authorities, local official sources said.
The government has already appointed professor Dr. Rafiqueullah Khan as the Vice-Chancellor of the Sheikh Hasina Public University, the sources added.
Chaired by acting deputy commissioner Netrakona Ariful Islam, the meeting was addressed, among others, by chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad Prasanta Kumar Ray, joint secretary of Awami League Netrakona district unit Nur Khan Mitu, freedom fighter Osman Gani Talukder, former commander of district Muktizoddha Sangsad Nurul Amin, president of Awami League Netrakona sader upazila unit Bazlul Kader Shahjahan, professor Bazon Sarker and general secretary of Netrakona press club Shamolendu Paul.
The meeting approved the decision to take a day-long special program on September 16 to express gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government for taking necessary steps for setting up the public university and the medical college in Netrakona.
Under the program, colorful rallies of local people of all walks of life would be brought out simultaneously from all the ten upazilas under the district. Besides, discussion meetings and cultural functions would also be held in the district town on the day.
