RANGPUR, Nov 21, 2017 (BSS) – The female students of Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College here today took oath to create social awareness about the severe consequences of drug abuse to save the young generation from the menace.
They took the oath at an anti-drug discussion jointly organised by the district administration and District Narcotics Control Department (DNCD) at Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College auditorium in the city.
The event was arranged with a view to creating awareness among the female students about the effects of drug abuse and drug addition to save the youths from getting ruined.
With Assistant Deputy Director of the DNCD Abul Kalam Azad in the chair, Principal of Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College Abdur Rouf Sarker attended the discussion as chief guest.
Senior journalist Mamun Islam, Lecturers of Lalkuthi Girls’ High School and College Ayesha Siddika and Arifa Sultana, teacher Selina Begum and Inspector of DNCD Tarun Kumar Roy addressed the discussion as special guests.
Students of the institution Ema Akhter, Laboni Begum, Sristi Sarker and Nazmun Nahar Shikha also spoke, expressing their firm commitments to build a drug-free society.
Abul Kalam Azad narrated the consequences of drug abuse and put emphasis on creating awareness among the young generation against drug addiction to eliminate the menace from society.
Tarun Kumar Roy put importance on sensitising the students about the catastrophic consequences of generation-killer drug aggression to build a healthier nation for national development.
The chief guest discussed various steps taken by the government for preventing drug abuse and thanked the female students of the institution for expressing firm commitment to build a society free from drug addiction.
“We must save the young generation from drug abuse to properly flourish their talents in a congenial atmosphere for turning them into healthy, worthy and productive citizens to build a middle income nation by 2021 and a developed country by 2041,” he added.
