DINAJPUR, Nov 21, 2017 (BSS)- Police, in special drives, arrested 30 persons including two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different areas of the district in the last 12-hour ending at 8am this morning.
The law enforcers also recovered 220 bottles of Phensidyl during the drives.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 10 persons, Birganj Thana police arrested one person, Birampur Thana police arrested four persons, Nawabganj Thana police arrested three persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested two persons, Biral Thana police arrested two persons, Bochaganj Thana police arrested three persons, Khansama Thana police arrested two persons, Parbatipur Thana police arrested one person and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from at Nosrotpur village of the upazila.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained two alleged drug traders with a private car.
The BGB also recovered 220 bottles of contraband Phensidyl syrup after searching the car at Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila of the district.
Later, the arrested persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police.
The arrestees were sent to jail.
