RAJSHAHI, Sept 4, 2018 (BSS) – Police in separate drives arrested a Jamaat
and two Shibir leaders with bombs and extremism books from different areas in
the district last night.
According to police, the arrested persons were identified as Obaidur
Rahman, 47, Ismail Hossain Siraji, 20, and Shakib Hossain, 23.
On a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at Baroghoria village under
Tanore upazila in midnight and arrested Obaidur Rahman from his house. The
police team also recovered four hand bombs and five petrol bombs after
searching the house.
Abdur Razzaque Khan, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police, told the
newsmen that police arrested the jamaat leader after getting information that
he was planning to commit subversive activities in the night. Obaidur Rahman
is the upazila rokon of Jamaat-e Islami, he said.
Besides, metropolitan police arrested two shibir leaders from two separate
places with three hand bombs, huge bomb-making materials and extremism
related books.
Separate cases were recorded with the police stations concerned.
