Workshop on online power connection held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 02, 2018 (BSS)-Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB)
organised a workshop on Online Power Connection System evolved by its own
experts at Rangpur Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS-2) at its Paglapeer headquarters
here on Saturday.

The daylong workshop was arranged with a view to providing new power
connections to the clients of BREB through digitised online services quickly
in a completely hassle-free manner.

General mangers, deputy general mangers (technical), assistant general
managers and junior engineers (IT) of all PBSs under Rangpur zone,
entrepreneurs of union digital centres, BREB clients, civil society members
and journalists participated in the workshop.

Member (planning and development) of BREB Md Abdus Salam attended the
workshop as the chief guest with its general manager of Rangpur PBS-2
Engineer Md Ali Hossain in the chair.

Director (technical) of the Geographic Information System (GIS) Directorate
of BREB Md Golam Mostafa, its Director (Technical) of the ICT Directorate
Hedayetul Islam, Superintending Engineer (Additional Charge) for Rangpur Zone
Md Enamul Haque and President of the PBS-2 Board Abu Hena Md Anwarul Islam
attended as special guests.

The high officials elaborately discussed the online application process
evolved by the IT experts of BREB for providing power connections to the
clients easily in a hassle-free manner.

The chief guest said the customers would not need to go PBS offices to get
power connections and they would get the same quickly through online
registration and paying necessary money by availing the Rocket mobile banking
services.

He directed the BREB and PBS officials and engineers to popularise the
online power connection system among the people and ensure providing power
connection to eliminate proximity to free the organisations from corruptions
and irregularities.

Two customers Sirajul Islam of Paglapeer Haridebpur and Mariyam Begum of
Uttam Hajirhat villages under Rangpur PBS-2 were given residential
electricity connections soon after their online applications while the
workshop was progressing.
