Bus helper arrested for pushing off man under wheels in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Sept 01, 2018 (BSS)-Police arrested the bus helper for allegedly pushing off a man, who was run over and killed following an altercation in city gate area on August 27.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested bus helper Manik Sarker, 26, from his in-law’s house in Ramgoti area in Laxmipur district, said PBI Inspector Santosh Chakma.
Following an altercation apparently over bus fare, the helper allegedly pushed one businessman Rezaul Karim Roni, 35, in City Gate area in the city, off the minibus. He fell down and got stuck between the road and the vehicle. As the driver drove on, Roni was crushed under the wheels.
Abdur Rahman, relative of victims Roney, filed a murder case with Akbarshah thana against bus driver Didurul Alam, 35 and helper Manik Sarker on Tuesday night.
The death sparked protests among locals who barricaded the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the area for nearly an hour that day.
