DHAKA, Sept 1, 2018 (BSS)- Components of the 14-party alliance will work in unison under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ensure ‘victory of democracy’ in the upcoming national polls and to establish a non-communal Bangladesh, the alliance’s spokesperson Mohammad Nasim said today.

“The central committee of the 14-party will hold rallies in the divisional cities in phases from September 18, which will continue till the declaration of election schedule…The parties will work together for ensuring the victory of democracy,” Nasim, also a presidium member of the Awami League, told a press conference here.

Earlier, a meeting of the 14-party combine was held at the AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi with Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam in the chair.

Nasim said a known vested quarter has begun conspiracy centering on the parliamentary polls. “They want to create anarchy across the country as they did during the January 5, 2014 election,” he added.

He said the people of the country will not accept any illogical and unconstitutional demand of anyone as there is no scope of vote rigging through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in this era of modern technology.

Nasim, also the health and family welfare minister, said, “The government won’t accept any unconstitutional activities of anybody. The national election will be held in December.”

About a comment of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Nasim said only the people can change a government through their mandate. A party or group cannot change any government in a democratic country.

Regarding the demand for dialogue, he said the 14-party does not want a ‘meaningless dialogue’ as it would only mean differing the election and bringing in an unconstitutional government.

Nasim said, “The countrymen will vote for us again as the present government has been working for the development in every sector of the society. The BNP’s dream for going to power will be turned into a nightmare.”

About EVMs, the 14-party spokesman said, “It’s a matter of the Election Commission whether they will use EVMs or not in the next polls. But, the people got benefits from the technology in the city corporations polls. Even, BNP candidates won at many voting centers where the technology was used,” he added.

He said the 14-party is an ideological alliance and the party will work in unison under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod General Secretary Shirin Akther, AL Organizing Secretaries Ahmed Hossain and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, Bangaladesh Samajtantrik Dal-Basod Convener Md Rezaul Rashid Khan, National Awami Party Joint General Secretary Ismail Hossain, Bangladesh Communist Party Kendra Presidium Member Dr Asith Baran Roy and Gano Azadi League General Secretary Muhammad Ataullha Khan, among others, were present.
