RANGPUR, Aug 31, 2018 (BSS)- Leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at a post-procession discussion today vowed to build a prosperous Sonar Bangla free from poverty and exploitation as dreamt by Bangabandhu.

Terming the August 15 assassinations of Bangabandhu and most of his family members as part of deep-rooted conspiracies, they said the killers wanted to make the Bangali nation leaderless and destroy the spirit of the War of Liberation.

Earlier, the city unit of BCL brought out a mourning procession from its office in observance of the National Mourning Day and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later, the BCL leaders placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square and held the discussion there.

President of city unit of BCL Shafiur Rahman presided over the discussion on the life, works, struggle, sacrifice and contributions of Bangabandhu while its General Secretary Sheikh Asif moderated the occasion.

President of city unit of Awami League (AL) Shafiur Rahman attended the discussion as the chief guest while its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal delivered the keynote speech.

The speakers strongly condemned the assassinations of Bangabandhu and most of his family members on August 15 and demanded to bring back all absconding killers of Bangabandhu to the country for their execution.

The chief guest urged leaders and activists of BCL, AL and its associate bodies and common people to forge a rock-solid unity to foil all conspiracies being hatched by the BNP-Jamaat clique and anti-liberation forces against the nation’s advancement.
