Stocks close week up

DHAKA, August 30, 2018 (BSS) – Stocks closed the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of some large-cap securities.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 29.44 points up at 5,600.64. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed the week with 12.56 points up at 1,960.72 and with 11.97 points up at 1,269.61 respectively.

Out of the 345 issues traded at the DSE, 180 issues gained against 138 losing issues.

During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 16.1 percent to Taka 583.94 crore. But, the average trade volume fell by 6.20 percent to 17.04 crore shares.

The top five gainers of the week were Jute Spinning, Savar EFR, NHFIL, RD Food and Prime Tex. The major losing issues of the week were GRAMEES2, Islami Insurance, National Life Insurance, Pragati Life and Paramount.

The top five turnover leaders were UPGDCL, Active Fine, NHFIL, BBS Cables and Lanka Bangla Finance.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up with its major CASPI index ending 132.97 points higher at 17,244.19.
