No need of movement for fair polls: Quader

DHAKA, Aug 29, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said there is no need to wage any movement for holding a free, fair and neutral national election.

“With utmost respect, I would like to tell the leaders of Jatiya Oikkyofront that there is no need of movement for a free, fair and neutral election. An acceptable election will be held in the country and you can take preparations for the polls,” he said, speaking at a function in city’s Shyamoli area.

In the function, Quader laid the foundation-stone of the construction work of a 14- story building for the officials of Roads and Highways Division.

He said the government will take necessary steps for the common people’s welfare if any destructive movement is launched.

“You can take preparations for the polls…We have no objection against any type of non-violent movement. But, if anyone tries to create violence in the name of movement, then the government will take actions,” he added.

The ruling party general secretary said politicians who are doing positive politics, not accused in any cases and have no connection with violence and any other crime, will not be arrested.

About the BNP’s threat of movement, Quader said the country’s people don’t trust them.
