Heavy rain lashes Indian capital

NEW DELHI, Aug. 28, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – Heavy rain lashed several parts of
Indian capital city New Delhi on Tuesday, bringing down temperature by a few
degrees, officials said.

The rains hit city and outskirts during early hours triggering uprooting
of trees, power cuts and waterlogging at several places.

“This morning heavy rain and lightning was reported in and around Delhi,”
a meteorological department official said. “The rains accompanied by
thunderstorm led to falling of trees and resulted in waterlogging of many
neighbourhoods.”

Delhi police took to twitter posting messages about waterlogged areas
asking people to avoid the stretches.

Monsoon had hit Delhi on June 28 and since then the capital has been
receiving light to moderate rain.

Meanwhile, the Indian meteorological department has predicted heavy rain
at several places across India.

The department also cautioned fishermen and advised them not to venture in
sea in wake of rough to very rough conditions that are likely to prevail over
West Central Arabian sea.
