Tigers’ preparation camp for Asia Cup begins

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2018 (BSS)- The Bangladesh national cricket team began their preparation camp for the Asia Cup scheduled to begin from September 15 in United Arab Emirates.

Ahead of the camp, twenty nine out of thirty one members preliminary squad reported this morning at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform hajj, is expected to return on August 29 while Mahmudullah, who is playing the Caribbean Premiere League for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, will join the camp on September 7.

Bangladesh bowling coach Courtney Walsh and batting consultant Neil McKenzie are expected to join the camp on September 2 ahead of the skills training sessions.

The cricketers will undergo fitness training till on Thursday and it will be followed by the skill training after the two day break before the final squad departs for the UAE on September 9.

Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka in the opening match of the group stage on September 15 in Dubai and will then take on Afghanistan in the second match on September 20 at Abu Dhabi.
