JAMALPUR, April 4,2017 (BSS) – ‘Astami Snan’ (dip in old Brahmaputra), one of the religious festivals of the Hindu community was celebrated here today with due religious fervor and solemnity.
Astami Snan, Mela O Puja Utjapon Committee said, thousands of Hindu
devotees from various parts of the country came in the district to observe the religious festival. Devotees performed the religious ritual in a peaceful atmosphere.
Sources familiar with the committee said, peaceful atmosphere has been ensured to help the devotees to perform their religious rituals.
The holy dip in the old Brahmaputra began in the morning today.
The Committee also said devotees performed worship at ‘Doyamoyee’ temple in the town after taking holy bath in the river Brahmaputra.
A two-day ‘Astami’ fair began in the ‘Doyamoyee’ temple area in the town to mark the fetival.
