Eid-ul-Azha celebrated in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Aug 24, 2018 (BSS) – Holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest
religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated on Wednesday with due
religious fervour and solemnity and sacrificing animals in Rangpur division.

The authorities concerned ensured peaceful celebrations of Eid-ul-Azha at
all 7,332 congregations held in the division by taking necessary measures and
deploying adequate number of police, Ansar-VDP, RAB and Police Investigation
Bureau (PBI) forces and volunteers.

Thousands of the Muslims of all ages offered special munajats seeking
divine blessings and eternal peace for departed souls of their nearer and
continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people and the Muslim
Ummah.

The national flag was hoisted atop all government, semi-government and
private buildings and mosques, Eidgahs, streets and major buildings were
illuminated and decorated with colourful miniature flags and banners
inscribed with Eid Mubarak.

Improved diets were served to inmates of hospitals, jails, shishu paribars,
orphanages and vagrant welfare centres in all eights districts under the
division.

In Rangpur city, Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) in association with the
district and police administrations arranged the main Eid-ul-Azha
congregation at the Central Collectorate Eidgah at 8:30 am amid pleasant
weather.

Former President, Special Envoy to the Prime Minister and Jatiya Party
Chairman Alhaj Hussein Muhammad Ershad participated in the main Eid
congregation.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Divisional Commissioner Kazi
Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, acting president of district
Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, politicians, professionals and elite of
the city participated in the main Eid congregation.

Police Super Mizanur Rahman with high police officials offered Eid prayers
at 8 am on Police Lines School and College ground in the city.

State Minister for LGRD Mashiur Rahman Ranga offered Eid prayers at the
biggest Eid congregation of the district held on Alambiditor Eidgah Maidan in
Gangachara upazila.

The other major Eid congregations were held at Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-
Mosque, Kamal Kachhna Baro Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Medical College
Ground, Bahar Kachhna Eidgah, RCCI School and College ground and Carmichael
College ground in the city.

Bigger Eid-ul-Azha congregations were held at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque,
Jummapara Korimiya Nurul Ulum Madrasa Ground, Mulatol Madrasa, Shalbon
Mistripara Ground, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque, Satmatha Jam-e Mosque,
Mahiganj College ground and many other places.

Outside the city, bigger Eid jamaats were held at Badarganj Central Eidgah,
Pirgachha Karbala Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School, Kawnia Central Eidgah,
Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah and Pirganj Central
Eidgah.

Besides, many other Eid-ul-Azha jamaats, out of total 776 in Rangpur
district, were held on the Eidgahs, mosques and grounds in the rural areas in
all eight upazilas between 8:30am and 10.30am.

Similar reports of celebration of the holy Eid-ul-Azha festivity was
received here from the district towns and all 58 upazilas of Rangpur,
Kurigram, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Dinajpur and
Thakurgaon districts in the division.
