1400 specialists to be trained for Rooppur nuclear plant

DHAKA, August 23, 2018 (BSS) – Rosatom Technical Academy began training
for Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) staffs from last week. The number of
specialists to be trained in Russia may exceed 1,400 by 2018.

The staffs of RNPP received four and a half month training course on
“Major Construction Works Management” in Russian city Obninsk, said a Rosatom
press release.

It said by the end of the current year Rosatom Service, the “Electrical
Power” division of the Rosatom State Corporation will train three more groups
and the number of total trained specialists from Rooppur project will exceed
1,400 persons.

“Skilled manpower is the main asset of any industry. One of the
objectives of our company is to train and develop personnel in the field of
nuclear energy.” said Evgeny Salkov, Director General of Rosatom Service.

He said, “We are positive that the knowledge and skills acquired by the
Bangladeshi specialists will ensure efficient, reliable and safe operation of
the Rooppur plant.”

The present course includes both theoretical and practical program. Upon
completion of the theoretical part the students will gain necessary knowledge
in administrative and construction matters, especially on acceptance of
equipments and it’s mounting.

Practical part includes on-site training at the Novovoronezh NPP, which
is one of the oldest nuclear power supplier plants in Russia.

Specialists from Bushehr NPP (Iran), Paks NPP (Hungary), Hanhikivi-1 NPP
(Finland) have already passed training with certification in the Rosatom
Technical Academy.

Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is being implemented by Rostaom State
Corporation of Russia. Each construction stage of the plant is closely being
monitored both by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA).
