August 21 grenade attack aimed at killing Sheikh Hasina: AL leaders

RANGPUR, Aug 21, 2018 (BSS) – Leaders of Awami League (AL) and its
associate bodies today said the August 21 grenade attack was aimed at killing
Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina as a part of deep-rooted
conspiracy.

They expressed this view at two separate discussions organised by
district and city units of AL at their respective offices to pay tributes to
victims of the gruesome August 21 grenade attack on the peaceful public
meeting of Sheikh Hasina.

Elaborate daylong programmes were chalked out in observance of the
black day.

The programmes included hoisting of the national flag, party flag at
half mast, placing wreaths to portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyrs of August 21 grenade attack and observance
of one-minute silence.

Milad and doa mahfils were arranged seeking divine blessings for eternal
peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and martyrs of August 21 grenade
attack.

With Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair, its
General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju addressed the
discussion held at its office.

President district Mohila AL Mortuza Mansur, its General Secretary
Advocate Zakia Sultana Choitee, Organising Secretary of district AL Motahar
Hossain Mandal Mowla, its Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul and
President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hasan Rony, among others,
addressed.

With President of AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chair, it’s General
Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, Vice-presidents Idris Ali, Shah Md Nabiullah
Panna and Advocate Dilshad Islam Mukul, among others, addressed another
discussion.

Advocate Raju said the August 21 grenade attack was part of a deep-
rooted conspiracy that started through killing of Bangabandhu and most of his
family members to make the nation leaderless and erase AL from this soil.

Blaming the then BNP-Jamaat government for the hateful August 21 grenade
attack, he demanded for unveiling masks of all masterminds behind the attacks
to ensure their exemplary punishments.

Shafiur said August 21 grenade attack was a part of conspiracy that
started before August 15, 1975 for killing Bangabandhu to reverse the
country’s Independence.

Tushar demanded immediate execution of all absconding killers of
Bangabandhu, four national leaders and the August 21 grenade attackers along
with their masterminds to root out the conspirators from the soil once for
all.

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed called upon the party workers to remain united for
thwarting all conspiracies being hatched by the defeated anti-liberation
forces to further strengthening hands of Sheikh Hasina for continuation of
national advancement.
