Shifting of Sylhet jail begins in Sept: Muhith

SYLHET, Aug 21, 2018 (BSS) – Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith
today said shifting of the newly built Sylhet jail would start in September.

The minister revealed it after visiting the new jail constructed in
city’s Badaghat and old jail this afternoon.

Mentioning that 10 historical sites are situated inside the old jail, he
said: “A park will be constructed in the site of old jail as well as
Bangabandhu Museum will also be constructed to preserve the memories of the
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

The finance minister also greeted the people of Sylhet on the occasion
of the Eid-ul-Azha.

Former Ambassador Dr A K Abdul Momen, Sylhet District Awami League
General Secretary Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury, City unit Awami League General
Secretary Asaduddin Ahmad, acting commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police
Paritosh Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Numeri Zaman, Senior Jail Super
of Sylhet M Abdul Jalil and local Awami Legaue leaders were present.
