22 students freed from jail
DHAKA, Aug 20, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 22 students who were arrested during the movement for safe roads have been freed.
Thirteen arrestees were freed today from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj while nine others were released yesterday.
“We have released the students whose bail documents reached the jail authorities,” Assistant Inspector General of Police (Prisons) Abdullah Al Mamun told BSS.
On the other hand, a Dhaka court today granted bail to 29 students who were arrested during the quota reform movement.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansari passed the order after the lawyers of the arrested students submitted eight separate petitions seeking bail in the cases.
