DMP plans tight security for Janmashtami

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has planned tight security measures for peaceful and smooth celebration of Janmashtami, an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, on September 2.

In a meeting held at the DMP headquarters with Additional Commissioner of DMP Monirul Islam presiding, decision was taken to put a security blanket across the DMP area, along with deployment of huge number of police personnel in uniform and plain-clothes.

DMP has taken the plan centering the procession which will be brought out from Dhakeshwari temple around 3pm and end at 5pm at Bahadurshah Park in the old city after parading different city streets.

As part of the plan, security personnel will be deployed on rooftops, and sweeping will be carried out on the trucks to be used in the procession.

No unwanted people and people with sharp weapons such as knife and da, firearms, explosives, bag and luggage will be allowed to enter the
procession.

Presidents and secretaries of Puja Udjapon Committee and Metropolitan Puja Udjapon Committee were present on the occasion.
