Five to die for killing in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – Five persons were sentenced to death and
two others imprisoned for life today in the sensational Abdul Kader murder
case at Shingra, Natore district.

Additional District and Sessions Judge of Natore Saifur Rahman Sidduique
announced the verdict in presence of the six convicts.

The convicts who were awarded death sentence are: Hafizur Rahman, Bulu
Hossain, Khalilur Rahman, Mojibur Rahman and Monir Hossain. Two other life
imprisoned convicts are: Abdul Hakim and Nazrul Islam.

The court sources said all the convicts were active members of the
outlawed Purba Bangler Communist Party.

According to the prosecution, the accused called out their neighbour
Abdul Kader alias Budu from his resident located at Biash village under
Shingra upazila in Natore district on February 3, 2004. Then, they took him
to a nearby solitary place and stabbed and shot him to death.

Wife of the victim Joynab Bibi had lodged a case with the Shingra Police
Station on the same day against nine persons.

Upon completion of investigation, police pressed charges accusing seven
of them.
