RAJSHAHI, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS)- Some 1,54,250 poor and distressed families
have been brought under vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme in Rajshahi
district to help them celebrating the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha festival this
year amid ease.

Under the specialised VGF programme, 3,085 tonnes of rice were allocated
for distribution among the beneficiary families in nine upazilas and 14
pourasabhas (municipalities) in the district, officials concerned said.

Each of the beneficiary families is getting 20-kg of rice this time
according to the list prepared earlier.

Meanwhile, distribution of rice is progressing fast everywhere in the
district and is expected to be completed by tomorrow (Monday).

The government through the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has
allocated the huge quantity of rice in the district.

As per direction and supervision of the district administration, the
concerned upazila administrations with the assistances of local public
representatives and union level committees have been distributing the rice
among the listed VGF card holding families.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Alamgir Hossain told BSS that
distribution of VGF rice will be completed within the stipulated time so that
the beneficiary poor and distressed families could celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha
festivity.

Respective union parishads prepared the list of the distressed people in
their areas and wheat was distributed with approval of the concerned UNOs.

“We are very much hopeful about successful distribution of the VGF rice on
time,” said Syeda Sadia Nuria, UNO of Charghat upazila.

She said as per the directives of the deputy commissioner necessary
measures were taken to distribute the VGF rice to the beneficiaries of the
upazila before Eid.
