Water levels in 18 stations register rise, 70 fall

DHAKA, August 18, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels in 18 rivers stations
monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise
while 70 stations recorded fall.

Among the 94 monitored stations, four river stations have been registered
steady, said a bulletin issued by FFWC today.

All the major rivers are flowing below their respective danger levels.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna Rivers are in steady state, which may continue in
next 48 hours.

The Ganges River is also in steady condition while the Padma River is in
falling trend. This situation may continue in next 24 hours, the bulletin
said.

The major rivers of the upper Meghna basin are in falling trend except
the Manu and Khowai rivers. All the major rivers of this basin may fall in
next 24 hours.

A total of 85 mm rainfall was recorded during last 24 hours ending at 6
am today at Brahmanbaria while 47 mm at Pashuram.
