DHAKA, Aug 17, 2018 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Anisul Huq today said Bangabandhu means Bangladesh and similarly
Bangladesh means Bangabandhu.

“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman worked, struggled
for people all his life. He had to become enemy of British and Pakistan
governments for that. He had to endure torture, had to be in prison for
around 14 years,” Anisul Huq said.

The minister came up with the observations while addressing a program
marking 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation and National
Mourning Day at Sarkari Shishu Paribar in capital’s Tejgaon this noon.

Huq at the time distributed money, bedding and food among the neglected
and disadvantaged children.

“Bangabandhu had given us an independent country through his long
struggle and sacrifice. But a section of schemers and fraudulent killed him
mercilessly. They even killed his 10-year-old boy Sheikh Russel. It is our
luck that Bangabandhu’s two daughters got saved as they were abroad at the
time,” he added.

Presided over by Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md
Zahirul Haque, the program was attended by senior officials of law ministry
and Department of Social Services.
