National Mourning Day observed in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 16, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad observed 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day on August 15 in a befitting manner and with due solemnity.

A day-long programme was taken to mark the day, said an official release received here today.

National Mourning Day posters were displayed in the chancery Bhaban and its adjacent walls. Wearing black badges, people participated in the Mourning Day programme.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Tarique Ahsan hoisted formally at half-mast the National Flag atop the chancery premises in the morning with participation all officials and employees of the High Commission and the Bangladeshi citizens living in Islamabad.

A photographic exhibition was also held on the chancery premises marking the day. High Commissioner Tarique Ahsan inaugurated the exhibition.

To mark the day, a memorial meeting was also held at the High Commission in the afternoon. The High Commissioner and officials and employees paid tribute by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation.
