NETRAKONA-MOURNING DAY
National Mourning Day observed in Netrakona
NETRAKONA, Aug 15, 2018 (BSS) – National Mourning Day and 43rd Martyrdom
Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was
observed here today with due solemnity.
Different socio-cultural and political organizations including Awami
league, Netrakona district administration, educational institutions and
professional groups chalked out various programs marking the day.
The day’s programmes began with placing wreaths at the portrait of the
Father the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Mukto-Moncha on
Muktarpara ground in the morning.
At first, deputy minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, MP, placed
wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu there. Later, Deputy Commissioner
Main-UL-Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Sheikh Hasina Public University Professor
Dr. Rafiqullah Khan, Chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad Prsanta Kumar Ray,
Police Super Joydeb Chowdhory and public representatives, Awami League
leaders and civil society members placed floral wreaths.
National flag was hoisted at half-mast atop of all the public and private
buildings in the district.
A discussion meeting on “life and ideals of Bangabandhu” was held at local
public hall in the morning under the auspices of the district administration.
Netrakona district administration and Islamic Foundation Netrakona jointly
organized a Quran Khawni and Milad Mahfil at Netrakona central Jam-e-mosque
after Zohr prayers.
A special prayer was offered seeking blessings of almighty Allah for
eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family
members and other August-15 martyrs.
Besides, special prayer was also offered in other mosques, temples,
churches and other places of worships in the district.
Awami League Netrakona district unit and its front organizations brought
out a mourning procession in the district town from its office premises in
the morning. AL leaders including president of AL Netrakona district unit
Motiur Rahman Khan and general secretary of the unit Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru
led the rally.
Different educational institutions also organized discussion meetings on
“life and works of Bangabandhu”, art and easy competitions and held Quran
khawni and Milad Mahfils on the occasion.
