Water levels in 38 rivers rise, 50 fall

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels at 38 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 50 stations recorded fall.

Among the 94 monitored stations, five river stations have been registered steady, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

All the major rivers are following below their respective danger levels. The Brahmaputra river is in rising trend while the Jamuna river is in steady state. The Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers may rise in next 24 hours

The Ganges-Padma rivers are in falling trend which may continue in next 24 hours.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today, the bulletin added.

A total of 97 millimeters (mm) rainfall was recorded at Kanaighat and 50 mm at Sunamganj.
