Bangabandhu’s handmade portrait inaugurated at DU

DHAKA, August 14, 2018 (BSS) – The biggest handmade portrait of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was inaugurated at Dhaka
University today.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed formally inaugurated the 43 feet portrait
of Bangabandhu at a function at Milon Chattar near the Teacher-Student Centre
(TSC) this evening, marking the 43rd anniversary of his martyrdom.

Artists of Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad sketched the portrait paying
tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and making
his great personality visible to new generation.

Speaking on the occasion, Tofail said Bangabandhu dreamt of a democratic,
socialist and non-communal Bangladesh.

“Bangabandhu dedicated his life for the people of this country and for
building a golden Bangladesh. And Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is trying her
best to materialise the dream of his father,” he said.

About the upcoming election, the Commerce Minister said: “BNP has two
options – participate in the election or abolish the party”.

Chaired by eminent artist Prof Jamal Ahmed, the function was addressed,
among others, by DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Anjan Chowdhury
of Square Group, artist Hasem Khan, Bangladesh Chhatra League DU unit’s
general secretary Saddam Hussain and Sammilito Sangskritik Jote president
Golam Kuddus.
